Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Academic Building Marks Milestone in EdUHK Campus Development

EdUHK held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the New Academic Building on 28 September, marking the beginning of a major development project on its Tai Po campus. Expected to be completed in three years, the eight-storey New Academic Building will provide purpose-built facilities to cater for the growing trend of technology-enhanced pedagogical approaches. It will have a net operating floor area of 7,600 square metres.

34 EdUHK Scholars Named by Stanford University in World’s Top 2% Scientists

Thirty-four scholars of EdUHK were named among the top 2% most-cited scientists in the world, in an annual list released by Stanford University. Among them were President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, Vice President (Academic) and Provost Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Research Chair Professor of Geography and Environmental Science Professor Jim Chi-yung, and Advisor (Environmental Science) Professor Wong Ming-hung.

EdUHK EdTech Innovations Win 26 iCAN Awards

EdUHK received 26 awards at the 7th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN) in 2022, including seven gold medals, three silver, five grand awards and 11 special prizes. It marked a new record high since the University’s first participation in 2018. Two of the University’s inventions received the Best Invention Awards.

EdUHK Launches 'Shine Together' Fundraising Campaign

EdUHK announced a year-long campaign to raise funds for the University’s initiatives in support of students with special educational needs (SEN) on 10 October. The ‘Shine Together’ campaign will begin with a charity virtual fun run, followed by a charity play, a thematic conference, and a gala dinner scheduled for next year. Celebrities Dr Elizabeth Wang Ming-chun and Mr Sammy Leung Chi-kin will serve as the Campaign Ambassadors.

EdUHK Thanksgiving Reception

EdUHK held a reception to express its gratitude to the generous support extended by donors on 24 October. On the same occasion, the University also recognised the awardees of the President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS). Thanks to the unfailing support from the different sectors of the community, scholarships are awarded to outstanding students every year. In 2021/22, there were around 520 scholarships worth HK$24 million.

EdUHK Receives Donations Supporting the 'Self-regulated Online Learning in Shadow Education for Underprivileged Students' Project

EdUHK received donations from the Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation, Hung Hom (Three Districts) Kaifong Association and Venture Global Limited, who generously provided a total amount of HK$400,000. The cheque presentation ceremony on 27 September was attended by the donors and EdUHK staff. They also visited the Future Classrooms in Mong Man Wai Library, where new equipment and e-learning technologies were showcased.

EdUHK held an Honorary Awards Ceremony on 28 October on its Tai Po campus, at which eight distinguished individuals were recognised for their remarkable contributions to the University, the education sector and the wider community.

AADO photo booth at graduation ceremonies

Graduates of EdUHK Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Undergraduate Degrees, Higher Diploma and Diploma programmes are invited to join the in-person graduation ceremonies conducted on a faculty basis on Saturdays between 19 November and 17 December. To mark the occasion for our graduates, AADO will set up a photo booth on the podium level of Block B2 at the Taipo campus and provide king-size photo frames and special placards for them to take pictures with. Graduates can also purchase an EdUHK Graduation Bear online at HK$500 each. Stock is limited, so order now!

[Highlights] “To the special one: Communicating with ADHD students” webinar

AADO and The EdUHK Alumni Association co-organised the webinar “To the special one: Communicating with ADHD students” on 13 October. Speaker and Founder of Let’s Talk ADHD Ms Amanda Fok shared her own insightful experience, effective communication skills when working with ADHD students and tips to create a positive learning atmosphere for efficient learning.
