EdUHK Appoints Professor John Lee Chi-kin as Next President

On 23 September, the Council of EdUHK approved the appointment of Professor John Lee Chi-kin, currently Vice President (Academic) and Provost, and Chair Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, as the University’s next President, effective 1 September 2023.

“Shine Together” Charity Virtual Run

According to recent figures from the Education Bureau, one out of ten students citywide has special educational needs (SEN). To promote inclusive education and raise public awareness for the support to SEN students, EdUHK will launch the “Shine Together” Fundraising Campaign. The first event is a Charity Virtual Run which will be held from 1-14 November 2022. Enrollment details will be announced on the event website, AADO Facebook, Instagram and WeChat on 10 October 2022. Please stay tuned!

EdUHK to Present Honorary Fellowships to Five Distinguished Individuals

EdUHK will present Honorary Fellowships to five distinguished individuals this year. The recipients (in alphabetical order of surnames) are:

Academic Year Inauguration cum Flag Raising Ceremony

EdUHK held the Academic Year Inauguration cum Flag Raising Ceremony on its Tai Po campus on 5 September, marking the start of the new academic year. Officiating at the event were President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, Vice President (Academic) and Provost Professor John Lee Chi-kin and Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin. They were joined by over 350 staff and students, together with a flag raising team made up of EdUHK students.

EdU Autumn Mini Fair

As part of its effort to promote entrepreneurship and innovation among students, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Education Unit (EIEU) of the University’s Library organised a two-day mini fair at Central Market on 17-18 September, to equip students with first-hand experience in entrepreneurship and marketing management-related skills. The “EdU Autumn Mini Fair” features over 40 stalls run by EdUHK students and alumni. Students from local schools also took part in the event.

EdUHK Receives Donations supporting the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education

EdUHK has received donations from Dr David Ng Tze-kin, Autism Hong Kong, AHK Education Consultants Limited and BrainX Company Limited, who generously donated a total amount of HK$630,000. These donations will support the Centre to conduct in-depth examinations in cognitive function training, artificial intelligence and internet technology support, and neurocognitive training.

EdUHK Graduation Bear Programme 2022

“Graduation Bear Programme” has launched for graduates to place their orders for Graduation Bears online. These unique graduation gifts feature delicate details handcrafted by persons with disabilities from the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth. Graduates can directly support the disabled community when they buy a Graduation Bear at HK$500 each. Limited stock, so order now!

【Highlights】Design Thinking Workshop

AADO presented a Design Thinking Workshop on 23 September 2022. During this interactive workshop, trainer from La Violet Education Mr Joe Leung demonstrated the process of design thinking with relevant educational pedagogy and case examples. Applying the process to Covid-19 pandemic-related challenges faced by students and teachers around the world, alumni participants were encouraged to consider and develop innovative solutions.
