EdUHK to Commence Construction of New Academic Building

EdUHK will commence the construction of a new academic building on its Tai Po campus, which is expected to be completed in 2025/26. As the first major campus development project since the inauguration of the Tai Po campus, the new eight-storey academic building will provide a net operating floor area of 7,600 square metres with a range of facilities to support the application and integration of education technology, pedagogy and interactive learning.

Visit by alumni LegCo members

Invited by EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, three alumni and newly elected LegCo members – Lam Chun-sing, Lillian Kwok Ling-lai and Benson Luk Hon-man – had a reunion at their alma mater on 15 August. During a meeting with President, Vice President (Academic) and Provost Professor John Lee Chi-kin and Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, they learnt the latest developments of the University and joined a tour of the newest campus facilities. The visit was concluded with a lunch with student representatives.

EdUHK Joins Nation-wide Network to Promote Physical and Health Education

EdUHK announced its membership in the Chinese Association of Physical Education – a network dedicated to fostering collaboration among member institutions on the development and reform of physical education on 5 August. As the first local university to join the Association, EdUHK also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding agreement with the East China Normal University in a signing ceremony.

EdUHK receives donation from Renshan Fortune Charity Association in support of elderly lifelong learning

EdUHK has recently received a generous donation of HK$200,000 from the Renshan Fortune Charity Association in support of the Elderly Academy to offer courses for the elderly. These courses aim to encourage continuous learning, by which elders gain knowledge and expand social circles to improve their physical and mental health, and cultivate a sense of self-worthiness.

【Alumni Interview 】Interview with SEN specialist Professor Sin Kuen-fung

Students with special educational needs are easily labeled as being “naughty” or “abnormal”. Fortunately, a group of teachers are willing to accept diversity and strive to raise public awareness of special education issues, so that we can build a world that is more tolerant and kinder. Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung is one of them.

【Highlights】Mooncake workshops

Both traditional and modern flavours of mooncakes have their supporters. AADO recently held two workshops for alumni and their friends have a go at making both mooncake flavours on 20 and 27 August. Guided by chef instructor Connie Leung and Mab Mak, the participants mastered the skills required to make the mooncakes. A big thank you to participants for their support – we received the overwhelming support of more than 1,000 enrolments.
