President Shares his Research Experience with Doctoral Students

EdUHK attaches great importance to the nurturing of research talent. The past few years have witnessed a steady growth of research student population at the University, with over 300 doctoral students in Research Postgraduate and Doctor of Education programmes. President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung welcomed these doctoral students earlier, and shared his research experience and insights in the inaugural session of the “Chair Professor Lecture Series”. Apart from focusing on journal publications, Professor Cheung encouraged students to connect with the community by applying their expertise or academic output for societal development.

EdTech Innovations Receive 16 iCAN Awards

Scholars at EdUHK garnered 16 education technology awards at the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN) in August 2020, including three Gold Medals, three Silver Medals, four Honour Prizes and six Special Prizes. Congratulating the winners, Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development), said: “The six award-winning innovations cover well-being technology, educational games and environmental science. This integration of technology into different fields of education demonstrates a new stage of computerised training and learning. We look forward to seeing the University’s innovations being used widely locally and internationally.”

Autumn Baking Workshop and Our Appreciations to Participants Making Donations to EdUHK

The Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) organised the “Autumn Baking Workshop” on 31 October 2020. As a precautionary measure against COVID-19, the number of participants of the workshop was reduced by half. Nonetheless, the participants comprising alumni and their friends enjoyed the interesting process of making their own Mont Blanc Swiss Roll and fruit tarts. In addition, AADO is thankful to the majority of participants for their generosity and donations to EdUHK in supporting the development of the University.

秋日烘焙工作坊

Mindfulness Workshop

Co-organised by the Alumni Affairs and Development Office and Plum Village Hong Kong, the “Mindfulness Workshop” was held on 17 October 2020 with a great success. This workshop aimed to provide an opportunity to alumni and their friends to relieve stress and cultivate a positive mindset to rise to the challenges. The workshop comprised different sessions, including introduction and practice of sitting and walking meditation, singing mediation, Q&A, and sharing. Alumni and their friends enjoyed the two hours of relaxation, and experienced “happiness is here and now”.
