Gala Dinner to Celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Northcote College of Education

On 30 November 2019, the Northcote College of Education Past Students’ Association hosted a Gala Dinner to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Northcote College of Education (NCE). Guests of Honour at the Gala Dinner were Prof. Stephen Cheung Yan-leung (President of EdUHK) and Dr Lau Wai-kin (Former Vice-President, Northcote College of Education). Also present at the Gala Dinner were around 200 NCE alumni, former NCE teachers, their family members and friends, and staff members of EdUHK. The NCE alumni and teachers reminisced about the good old days and the harmonious relations between teachers and students. Special thanks go to Dr Lau Wai-kin, as well as Alumnus Dennis Koo Hok-chun (Chairman, NCE Past Students’ Association) and his family, who gave great musical performances to grace the occasion.

Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence 2018/2019
|
The Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence 2018/2019 was announced in November 2019. Out of the 30 recipients in the areas of “English Language Education Key Learning Area”, “General Studies” and “Personal, Social and Humanities Education Key Learning Area”, 19 were graduates of EdUHK and the former Colleges of Education, with nine receiving an award and ten a certificate of merit. Since the Scheme’s inception, 655 out of 908 (approximately 72%) awards/ certificates have been presented to our alumni.

Mourning for Alumnus Silva Wu Kin-hung (Northcote College of Education 1972)
Alumnus Silva Wu Kin-hung (NCE 1972) passed away days ago. Alumnus Wu was engaged in the education field since graduating from NCE. He was committed to promoting extracurricular activities and in particular “Invitational Education” among the education community. Alumnus Wu, serving as the Vice Chairman of the Northcote College of Education Past Students’ Association for many years, was also committed to developing the Association’s affairs. Alumnus Wu made a lot of contributions indeed to the education community. We are deeply saddened by his death and our deepest condolences go to his family.
Alumnus Wu's funeral will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on 15 December 2019 at “景仰堂”, 1st floor, Hung Hom Universal Funeral Parlour. Farewell service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on 16 December 2019.
