EdUHK Alumni Family Day

The Education University of Hong Kong’s Alumni Family Day will be held on 2 March 2019 (Saturday) from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the Tai Po Campus. The Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) warmly invites our alumni and friends to come to the University and participate in a number of exciting activities. Programmes arranged for the day include:

  • Thematic talk
  • Parent-child Activities (such as Rolling Slide, Sensory Rainforest, Float Sumo, Fantasy Playground, Blow Blow Gallery, Floating Water World, Ever-changing Wooden Frame, Big Elephant Fire-spitting Paradise, Bubble Party, etc.)
  • Big Dolls Parade
  • Sugar Painting Production
  • Snack Stalls
  • Campus Tour Guide (Aquaponics, Library and Hong Kong Education Museum)

For the thematic talk, AADO has invited a senior occupational therapist, Mrs Silvia Mak Ho Siu-kuen (Louisa Mak Ming-sze’s mother), to give a lecture entitled “Changing Small Habits in Life to Stimulate a Child’s Learning Potential”, which is especially suitable for our alumni and friends who are in their parental role.

Interview with Alumni – “A” Contribution @ Special Education
Alumna Twiggy Chan Cheuk-ki

The Education University of Hong Kong has always been committed to nurturing SEN (Special Educational Needs) teachers for Hong Kong so that they can contribute to the special education profession and help students with special educational needs to integrate into the community and develop their strengths. The Alumni Affairs and Development Office has interviewed Alumna Chan Cheuk-ki to take a look into her effort and contribution for special education.

Alumna Chan Cheuk-ki was diagnosed with dyslexia when she was young. Being enlightened by a teacher, she gradually gained confidence and completed her studies with perseverance. In 2013, she started a special education institute to provide services for students with dyslexia in order to fill the gap in our education system. As someone who has been through it all, she taught these students and produced suitable teaching materials for them. She hoped for a life to bring transformation in another, just like her teacher...
