A Welcoming Dinner for Returnees from Canada - Mr Lau Chak-bun and Mrs Lau Lee Yuen-ying

To welcome Mr Lau Chak-bun and his wife, alumni of the Rural Training College, for returning to Hong Kong from Canada, Dr Joseph Kwong Kai-to, Chairman of the Rural Training College Alumni Association, hosted a welcome dinner and invited alumni and friends to join them on the occasion. Dr Melina Iu Mei-ling, Head of Alumni Affairs and Development, The Education University of Hong Kong, and Ms Michele Tang Yuen-shan, Manager of AADO, were among the invited guests. They shared a pleasant evening reminiscing about some of those happy moments at the College.

Alumni Activities Snapshots

Alumni Affairs and Development Office arranged a number of activities for our alumni in both November and December 2017, including:

■ Christmas Wreath Bun and Cup Cake Workshop (9 December 2017)

Our alumni and friends made delicate pastries with a Christmas flavour under the guidance of Samantha, a tutor at Shun Hing Cooking Centre. The venue was filled with a joyful festive atmosphere.

■ Alumni’s visits (11 November 2017 and 2 December 2017)

Alumni of Northcote College of Education and other former Colleges of Education spent a joyful morning at The Education University of Hong Kong touring the Hong Kong Museum of Education and Northcote Hall. Special thanks go to the Northcote College of Education Past Students' Association for organising the December event and to the Hong Kong Museum of Education and Northcote Hall for their assistance.

■ Chinese Calligraphy Workshop (25 November 2017)

Co-organised by the Alumni Affairs and Development Office and the Center for Religious and Spirituality Education, the workshop was well received by our alumni. Our special thanks go to Dr Joseph Kwong Kai-to (Honorary Fellow of The Education University of Hong Kong and Chairman of the Rural Training College Alumni Association) who assumed the role of lecturer in the workshop.

■ Guided Tour for Tze Shan Monastery (21 November 2017)

On a warm afternoon in late autumn, our alumni paid a visit to Tze Shan Monastery architectural features modelled after the style of Tang Dynasty and their statues of Buddha and Guan Yin. Photos were taken on the occasion. Special thanks go to Tze Shan Monastery for arranging the guided tour.

■ Congratulations to Our Fresh Graduates (17 and 18 November 2017)

Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) extended its warmest congratulations to our fresh graduates at the 23rd Congregation. For the enjoyment of the graduates, AADO set up a photo booth and provided some king-size photo frames, balloons and special placards for them to take pictures with. AADO also provided instant photo printing service to share the joy of graduation. Pictures and videos showing the joyous moments of our graduates and the footage of the Congregation are put online in our EdUHK Alumni Facebook Page.

 

Congratulations to Alumnus Gordon Lee Chun-lok for winning the Championship in the World Harmonica Festival 2017 in Germany

Congratulations to Alumnus Gordon Lee Chun-lok (2014 graduate of the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, major in Music) for beating musicians from all over the world and winning the championship at the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany in November 2017, achieving the highest honour!

Congratulations to Alumna Geng Xiaoling

Congratulations to Alumna Geng Xiaoling, a 2013 graduate of the Master of Education programme! She is an awardee of The Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2017. Alumna Geng received the award in recognition of her endeavours and achievements in Wushu (Chinese martial arts) and for becoming an inspiration and a role model for the new generation.
