Naming Ceremony for “Dr and Mrs Allen Shi Lop Tak Lecture Theatre”

In appreciation of the generous donation from Dr and Mrs Allen Shi Lop-tak, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has named a lecture theatre as “Dr and Mrs Allen Shi Lop Tak Lecture Theatre”, for which a naming ceremony was held on campus on 16 March 2017.

The naming ceremony was officiated by Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, Secretary for Transport and Housing of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK; Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak, Chairman of Brilliant International Group, and his wife, Mrs Kimmy Shi Ngan King-lin. Guests of the event also included Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, Secretary for Education, HKSAR and Dr Constance Chan Hon-yee, Director of the Department of Health, HKSAR. More than 200 guests, philanthropists, friends and associates turned up at the naming ceremony to show their support, marking it as a grand occasion.

Dr and Mrs Allen Shi Lop Tak Lecture Theatre is located in Block D1 (D1-LP-03). With nearly 200 seats and equipped with teaching facilities and projector, it serves the purposes in teaching, workshops and seminars.

The EdUHK Foundation Thanksgiving Reception cum Scholarship Presentation Ceremony

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a reception on 16 March 2017 to express its gratitude to donors for their unfailing support during the 2015-16 academic year with over HK$164 million pledged, the best-ever annual fundraising result for the University.

On the same occasion, scholarships were presented to students with outstanding academic achievements, leadership, service records and performance in other areas. Nearly 800 scholarships valued at approximately $21 million will be awarded this year – a record high in terms of the total scholarship amount.

Addressing the ceremony as Guest of Honour was Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR. Also in attendance were Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR, and over 300 friends and supporters of the University, including leading figures from the business and education sectors, staff and scholarship recipients.

Spring Outing: Visit to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum
