R.T.C. Publisher’s Book Signing Event-cum-Dinner

To commemorate the compilation of “A Hundred Years - A Glimpse of R.T.C.”* and the publication of a bi-literate and trilingual new book titled “Tang Poem in Heritage and Recitation”, a book signing event-cum-dinner was organised on 27 December 2016 by R.T.C. Publisher’s Dr Kwong Kai-to, an alumnus of R.T.C. and honorary fellow of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). “A Hundred Years - A Glimpse of R.T.C.” was a joint effort of Dr Kwong and a number of co-workers based on the Rural Training College (R.T.C.) and the experience and knowledge of Mr Fung Hon-man, a 104-year-old teacher who had served the education sector for many years and honorary fellow of EdUHK. Supplemented by important records and historical events, the book briefly narrates the centennial development of education in Hong Kong. In particular, the narration of the forgotten “R.T.C.” was set against the backdrop of the progress of the community. This book was also a gift from Dr Kwong and his co-workers for Mr Fung. “Tang Poem in Heritage and Recitation” translated the more simple and easy-to-read Tang poems in the style of English poetry and, together with Hanyu Pinyin and Cantonese Romanisation, was co-ordinated into a bi-literate and trilingual reader.

The event was attended by over 100 guests including Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development); Mr Li Chin-wa, Co-Director of the Centre for Religious and Spirituality Education; Ms Karen Cheung Shu-tai, Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Education; Dr Melina Iu Mei-ling, Head of Alumni Affairs and Development and other EdUHK colleagues.
