The Establishment of The Education University of Hong Kong

27 May marked the formal establishment of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), following the publication of the Government Gazette on the HKIEd (Amendment) Ordinance 2016.

Witnessed by the University community, Mr Pang Yiu-kai, EdUHK Council Chairman and Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, EdUHK President, unveiled the new EdUHK logo. This was followed by a celebration party, during which dummies of EdUHK’s staff and student cards, graduation certificates and Documentary Proof of Retitling were presented to staff, students and alumni representatives. We would like to express our thanks to our alumni who returned to their alma mater and witnessed this historical moment up-close. Please click here for the photo album.

The first batch of alumni visitors after the LegCo gave its approval for renaming

A group of The Hong Kong Institute of Education and Colleges of Education alumni returned to their alma mater on 19 May 2016 after a long lapse of time. In addition to visiting the latest facilities of the Tai Po Campus Library, they visited the Organic Farm for an in-depth understanding of our latest development in environmental protection and organic farming. As this day marked the success of the renaming of HKIEd as a university, they offered their congratulations and best wishes for The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) in nurturing more talents, contributing to the community and marching on toward a new milestone!

EdUHK marked a new milestone　Collection of old photos of campus life

To get in touch with our alumni, Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) is now collecting old photos of campus life so we can revisit the changing faces of the EdUHK/ former Colleges of Education and share bits and pieces of campus life. Together we bear witness to the milestone in the history of the Institute!

These old photos will be placed in AADO's digital album or display board for alumni events, allowing graduates of different classes to witness changes in Hong Kong’s teacher education, the improving social acceptability of teachers and the expansion and internationalization of the EdUHK. All these will allow us to embrace history when reflecting on the present situation and to become more accommodating to divergent opinions.
