“HKIEd Alumni Club” Inauguration Ceremony - Alumni Cultivating a Giving Culture to Support HKIEd’s Development
|
As staunch supporters of The Hong Kong Institute of Education (“HKIEd”), the Institute's alumni have made substantial contributions to their alma mater. To show our appreciation and gratitude, the "HKIEd Alumni Club" (“The Club”) was established to symbolize the strong connection between our alumni and their alma mater.
The inauguration ceremony for the Club was held on 29 November 2014 on the Taipo campus. More than 50 Club members and their family and friends attended. The ceremony was officiated by Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung (President), Ms. Sarah Wong Man-yee (Vice-president [Administration] and Secretary to Council), Professor Joanne Chung Wai-yee (Acting Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences), Dr. Yu Kar-ming (Dean of Students), Mr. Dominic Chu Chung-keung (Director of Estates) and alumnus Kwong Kai-to, MH. On behalf of the Institute, Ms. Sarah Wong took this special opportunity to express our gratitude for alumni’s enthusiastic support and generous contribution, which allowed HKIEd to devote more resources to programme development, helped to attract and reward outstanding students, subsidized students in need and broadened students’ horizons by promoting international cultural exchanges and various developmental projects.
Besides enjoying the fabulous performances by alumnus Keith Wong Yung-hong (classical guitar performance), student Zhou Zhi-chao (piano performance) and Ling Ying Public School (singing performance), participants also joined the campus tour to understand the new development of the HKIEd. A painting class was led by Ling Ying Public School's Principal Vincent Chu Kwok-keung and alumnus Eric Ng for the children. Alumnus Kwong Kai-to kindly inscribed on the children’s paintings, demonstrating the spirit of educational heritage to the younger generation.
