You are strongly encouraged to submit your application as early as possible.

Master of Education

The MEd programme has received very encouraging response since it was first launched in 2005/06. This year, the programme has undergone a curriculum re-structuring which provides greater flexibility for students to choose among the Single Specialist Route, Double Specialist Route and Generalist Route, in line with their personal interests and professional needs.

In the 2009/10 cohort we will offer four new specialisations to make up a variety of 20 specialisations plus the Educational Studies Strand ¡V Generalist Route, including -

  • Assessment and Evaluation

  • Business Education <new>
  • Music
  • Children¡¦s Literature in Chinese
  • Physical Education
  • Curriculum and Innovative Teaching
  • Professional and Vocational Education
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Science Education

* Graduates of the TESOL and English Language Education Specialisation are eligible for PGSK exemption and Subject Knowledge Incentive Grant.

Master of Arts

To cater for the rapidly growing demand for suitably trained language teachers, the Institute offers three MA programmes specialised in Chinese or English in 2009/10, including Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as an International Language (MATCIL), Master of Arts in Teaching English as an International Language (MATEIL), and Master of Arts in Chinese Studies (Language Education) (MACSLE).

Doctor of Education

Apart from the master's degree programmes listed above, we are also inviting applications for EdD candidates who are interested in the two established Areas of Study - Educational Measurement and Assessment, and Language Education (English). In addition, candidates are offered the flexibility to propose their own Area of Study in a Directed Study mode. The application deadline is 28 February 2009.

Prospectuses & Application Materials

The application materials of our postgraduate programmes are obtainable at our Information Centre (Room A-G/F-08, Administration Building, Taipo Campus), Town Centre (Level 2, Long Beach, 8 Hoi Fai Road, Taikoktsui, Kowloon) or website (http://www.ied.edu.hk/acadprog/). You are welcome to submit your application through our Online Application System (http://www.ied.edu.hk/acadprog/online). Please note that you need not submit any copies of academic transcript(s) and certificate(s) obtained in 1995 or after at the Institute.
