Naming Ceremony of Cho Kwai Chee Foundation Building

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has renamed its Administration Building after the Cho Kwai Chee Foundation, in appreciation of a generous donation from the Foundation. The naming ceremony was held on 10 August 2016.

Officiating at the ceremony were Dr Pang Yiu-kai, Chairman of the EdUHK Council and Foundation; Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK; and Dr Cho Kwai-chee, Founder and Chairman of the Cho Kwai Chee Foundation. Dr Ko Wing-man, Secretary for Food and Health of the HKSAR government, and Mr Antony Leung Kam-chung, Chairman and CEO of the Nan Fung Group, also addressed our guests at the ceremony. Some 600 guests, donors, alumni, friends and partners of the University attended the ceremony.

Dr Pang thanked Dr Cho for his immense support for, and strong commitment to, EdUHK. “This generous donation represents the Foundation’s recognition of the unique role of EdUHK in Hong Kong’s teacher education. This investment allows us to advance our mission of nurturing professional teachers and social leaders for the future,” Dr Pang said.

Professor Cheung said, “We are truly thankful for the donation, which will be used to support the teaching and learning activities, broaden the horizons and perspectives of students, and support our research initiatives.”

Dr Cho said, “Education is paramount. Our future generations are expected to encounter greater challenges. I hope that this donation will facilitate EdUHK not only in assuming its role as an incubator for teachers, but also in serving as a platform that supports the development of Hong Kong education in a holistic way, with a view to enhancing the quality of teachers and students.”
